Great Advice From Around the Web

As you establish your holiday budget, craft your gift list and start buying presents, I want to share some wise words from my 7-year-old daughter.

As we were cleaning her room recently, we came across an old teddy bear that my maternal grandmother had given me. She asked if I still had anything my other (paternal) grandmother had given me. My answer was no, and I told her I couldn’t remember any specific gifts that I had received from her.

In the past, roadside assistance and car insurance were two completely different things. Just like your insurance doesn’t buy you a new battery when your old one goes out, it does not tow your car to the shop when it breaks down. Insurance was for accidents—collisions, fires, hail damage, theft. If you wanted someone to replace your flat tire, or, give you a ride back to your house, you relied on motor clubs like AAA.

In recent years that has begun to change. Increasingly, some auto insurance companies have begun to offer roadside assistance services. They may be a feature of a standard comprehensive policy or an altogether different feature you can chose separately. Read more…
