The U.S. government has said it will not appeal a federal court ruling on the federal health reform law, setting the stage for a faster U.S. Supreme Court, possibly as early as next summer in the heat of election season.
The U.S. Justice Department, representing the Obama Administration, has chosen not to ask the 11th Circuit of Appeals to reconsider its ruling. Instead, the Justice Department will ask the high court to take up whether the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is constitutional, according to Politico.
More than 20 federal court appeals are in play, mostly challenging the individual mandate included in the law.
